Lauren + Stanton’s beach wedding was intended to be an intimate, relaxed affair at Lauren’s parents’ stunning home in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida…until Hurricane Michael was forecast to make landfall nearby the week of the wedding. A flurry of phone calls later, we had a contingency plan to move everything to New Orleans at the last minute if necessary. I have never told a bride “it’s gonna be fine” as much as I did that week, even as I thought to myself, “This may not be fine.”
The storm came ashore just far enough east to spare Santa Rosa Beach. Three days later, the wedding took place on the beach as originally planned. The weather was perfection. All 85 confirmed guests attended and all of my vendors delivered – including Chef Emeril Lagasse, whose Emeril’s Coastal Italian provided the phenomenal fare. The joy – and relief! – at this wedding were well-earned.
